The Essence of Mosaic Art
Mosaic art is based on hard, naturally colored stones that are resistant to water and various weather conditions. These stones are carefully cut into small pieces and arranged with great precision to create a design that reflects the culture and civilization of its time.
This makes mosaic art one of the most complex and demanding artistic techniques. Finding the right colored stone blocks is anything but easy—it requires long and arduous searches in mountainous regions. Transporting these stones to the workshop is equally arduous, followed by the precise process of sawing and extracting the desired colors.
Naturally colored stone does not occur completely pure; the colors appear as fine lines within larger masses of stone. This makes obtaining the correct color an extremely complicated, time-consuming, and costly process.
